Calvary Sunday School

Calvary Episcopal Church has a vibrant Sunday School for children and youth from Pre-K through the 8th grade.

Dedicated teachers provide an enjoyable learning experience for our children and youth. The aim here at Calvary is to have a Sunday school program that builds faith and character and will serve our youth for life.

We use a lectionary-based curriculum by Hearts Alive for grades Preschool/Kindergarten, Primary (grades 1-3), and Intermediate (grades 4-6). Hearts Alive follows the Biblical readings for the day, which allows our students to have an excellent Christian education in a fun and exciting manner. Older youth use the curriculum Weaving God's Promises, which has a focus on Holy Communion and the church year.

Sunday school starts at 9:30 a.m., before the 10:00 a.m. service. At about 10:30 a.m., Sunday School concludes and children and youth join their parent(s) or guardian(s) prior to  Holy Communion.

On the last Sunday of the month we have Children's Service in lieu of Sunday School. The children serve as readers for the lessons, leaders for the Prayers of the People, and help with ushering duties.

Outreach is an important part of our Christian Formation at Calvary, where the Sunday School students are actually involved in projects to help those less fortunate than they are. This provides an important learning experience for them.

Special Activities are also included in our program year, such as Trunk or Treat, Advent including Family Lunch, singing at the 10:00 a.m. service, Sunday School Family Shrove pancake luncheon, picnics and evening dinner and game nights.

Register for Sunday School here.

Sunday School will resume September 10, 2023.

Nursery Care is available for children 3 months through age 3 Sundays from 9:45 to 11:00 a.m., September through May. During the summer, the nursery is open to children up to age 7.
