Worship Ministries

Many people contribute to the beauty of Calvary's worship. Some take part publicly during worship services, while others work behind the scenes to make sure everything goes smoothly.

  • Acolytes

Acolytes carry the torches in procession and help Fr. Robert at the altar.

  • Altar Guild Members

Altar Guild Members set the altar and clean the linens and vessels after the service. They are responsible for making sure the hangings are the appropriate color for the season.

  • Choir

Choir members lead the music at Calvary. Read more about choir here.

  • Counters

Counters record and process the offering each week.

  • Crucifers

Crucifers carry the processional cross. They lead the choir, Eucharistic Ministers, and the clergy into and out of the church.

  • Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers help Fr. Robert serve communion. Sometimes they also read the lessons or lead the prayers. Eucharistic Ministers often wear vestments.

  • Eucharistic Visitors

Eucharistic Visitors take communion to those who cannot come to church.

  • Flower Ministers

Flower Ministers rearrange the altar flowers after the service and deliver the bouquets to those who are celebrating or in need of a boost.

  • Lectors and Intercessors

Lectors read the lessons and Intercessors lead the prayers. Those who serve in this way often come up from the congregation.

  • Ushers

Ushers greet worshippers and distribute the bulletins. They collect the offering and help direct traffic at communion.
